Exhibition of replacement bespoke North Walls Cricket Pavilion
A public exhibition of the proposed new cricket pavilion at North Walls will be on display at the existing cricket pavilion, North Walls, Winchester on Saturday 22nd October 9.30am-1.30pm and Sunday 23rd October 11am-3pm.
The purpose of this exhibition is an opportunity to view the emerging designs for the new pavilion. Representatives from The Pavilion Project team and AR Design Studio Architects will be on hand to answer any questions. Image boards will be on display along with a scale model of the proposed design, and a computer generated ‘fly-through’ film.
The Pavilion Project’s vision is to provide a unique facility for cricket clubs and community groups alike, replacing the two forty year old structures with one modern, accessible and sustainable building, with no additional draw on public funds.
Councillor Anne Weir, Chair of Winchester Town Forum, said:
“Winchester Town Forum are delighted The Pavilion Project, supported by Hyde 900, has brought forward these exciting proposals for the cricket pavilion. We welcome the prospect of working in partnership on this and wish the team every success with their fundraising.”
Member agreement was given at last month’s Town Forum meeting to fundraise for the new cricket pavilion. Winchester City Council already has allocated funds for a “like for like” replacement.
The Pavilion Project is being led by Mike Caldwell, who plays for The Racqueteers cricket team at North Walls and regularly uses the current cricket facilities. He said:
“The Pavilion Project is really pleased to be working closely with Council officers and Members to develop AR Design Studio’s imaginative and bold designs. We have pledged to match the sum already allocated by the Town Forum to enable the enhanced concept to go ahead. We invite as many people as possible; it’s a great opportunity to have a look at what is being proposed and to tell us what you think on our comments board. We hope people will be as enthused as we are. We will also have a pledge board so we hope people will be encouraged to support our fundraising efforts too! ”
The Pavilion Project is a community-led not for profit initiative, supported by Hyde 900.
