The concept takes the sites relationship to the sun and responds to its movement within it by taking the two main wings of accommodation and extruding them out like hands on a clock face to orient the building to face south east and west. This consequently creates a large courtyard in-between the two hands optimising the midday sun and offering protection from the wind.
On the adjacent side, the two wings are connected by an open void formed by two external walls which penetrate the site east to west and define the circulation of the building and site. This also forms a second courtyard to the front of the house creating a more protected and secure entrance to the building.
