Located in a stunning garden setting, east of Cambridge, this four bedroom house is bordered by mature trees and shrubberies. The concept for the design aims to capture the notion of a “secret garden” and provide a tranquil and secluded escape from everyday life to this new family home. A lightweight timber form sits atop a solid linear stone wall, helping to create the divide between open and secret and form a strong and safe boundary.
The juxtaposition between the spherical landscaping and the strong linearity of the house creates a unique bond between the contrasting forms. This connection is emulated throughout the house and blurs the boundary between inside and out, furthering the overall feeling of the “secret garden” aspect.
