How Do You Create Community On A Linear Site?
Elements such as roofs and walls usually define boundaries and create enclosures. Here they are seen to be stretching beyond the boundaries of the individual and tying together a new community.
Aided by equally spaced openings between each home the design incorporates an upside-down plan that allows for greater natural light to enter into the living areas.
Required access routes to the houses behind have been used as an opportunity to create spacious openings in the street façade and provide common space to the local community as well as bike storage and other amenities. Contrasting the urban environment around it, these areas will be well lit, safely overlooked, and add biodiversity in the form of trees, planting and wild flowers.
