AR Design Studio secure planning approval for latest project, Long View House
AR Design Studio is delighted to announce the successful planning appeal for 'Long View House.' This bespoke five-bedroom replacement dwelling is nestled within the enchanting country woods of Kent.
Perched on a wooded ridge line, Long View House has been strategically designed to capture the beautiful panoramic views of the countryside to the South and the verdant woodland to the East. AR has created a contemporary interpretation of the agricultural structures that dot the surrounding area.
The house, divided into two wings which are gracefully cranked outwards from the central lobby, maximises the breathtaking vistas. Each wing boasts an elongated pitched roof, almost grazing the ground on both sides – creating a dynamic interplay between the architecture and the natural surroundings. The split of the house into wings, coupled with the cranked orientation, ensures an unobtrusive integration with the picturesque landscape while enhancing the overall spatial experience with sleeping areas in the Eastern Wing and living areas in the Western Wing. Reference is made to the context of the nearby village when making material choices. The natural tones of copper and stone within the primary building materials roots the project within its context.
