The proposed development comprises four contemporary dwellings which aim to set precedent for modern Cornish design. ‘A Design Statement for Cornwall’ addresses the need to step away from “…bland, standard design solutions” looking towards architecture bespoke to Cornwall.
Designed by AR Design Studio an award-winning RIBA certified contemporary architectural practice, based in Winchester, Hampshire, specialising in elegant modern new homes, extensions, renovations and multi-plot developments.
The proposed development comprises four contemporary dwellings which aim to set precedent for modern Cornish design. ‘A Design Statement for Cornwall’ addresses the need to step away from “…bland, standard design solutions” looking towards architecture bespoke to Cornwall. With this in mind we drew inspiration from Cornwall’s rich heritage, developments in architectural design and building technology, along with the site and its surroundings to reach our proposal. The rugged aesthetic of the surrounding cliffs mix with a sharp, crisp modern aesthetic, local natural stone and engineered standing seam tin paying respect to Cornwall’s history; combine to produce a bespoke, original design to contrast with the surrounding ‘bland’ housing.
