AR Design Studio was invited by Alresford Golf Club to submit proposals for the extension and refurbishment of the clubhouse, bring the building up to modern standards and improving upon the existing amenities.

Two principle elements have informed the design approach, improving the connection to the outdoors and reconfiguring the approach to the building to better reflect the site access. The existing dining and bar areas are extended and reconfigured, creating a large lounge area that then extends onto an expanded external terrace through new large sliding glass panels. A new external canopy is proposed that would create covered external space and create links between the 1st tee, the 9th and 18th Greens and key areas within the clubhouse such as the pro shop, changing and bar areas. These two interventions create unrestricted views out over the course and allow for free movement throughout and around the building.

The building is then to be clad in timber, reflect its verdant setting, providing a softer backdrop against the 18th green and offering opportunities to improve upon the performance of the external fabric.
